In line
with its corporate social responsibility initiative to honour heroic Nigerian
children, who have distinguished themselves in their service to humanity and
act of heroism, Dufil Prima Foods Plc., makers of Indomie has commenced search
for the eighth edition of the Indomie’s Independence Day Awards (IIDA).
The search of the three children, who will become the 2015 heroes,
will cut across geo-political zones and key cities in the country; have had 21
children benefit from the initiative since inception.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the commencement of the
search, the Chief Executive Officer Prima Foods Plc., Deepak Singhal
represented by the Public Relations and Event Manager Tope Ashiwaju, said that
the “initiative is significant as it is rooted in the recognition of those
whose best efforts are very often overlooked.”
“The three children who would be selected for this year’s awards
would have braved the odds and displayed exceptional courage in the face of
hazards would be selected, recognized, rewarded and celebrated for their act of
heroism. “They would have demonstrated remarkable acts of great courage despite
the unfavorable conditions they found themselves.
“On a daily basis, our beloved Nigerian children perform thousands
of heroic acts that save the lives and property of others at great personal
risk to themselves and the reality is that such acts of bravery often go unsung
because the players involved are minors.”
He, however, noted that
their belief is that they need to be identified and celebrated publicly in
other to encourage and inspire more selfless acts in these children who would
tomorrow hold various leadership positions in the country.
“We have sustained this
initiative over the years owing to our commitment as a company to continuously
impact positively on the lives of our consumers most importantly the children
who represent the future,” he said.
While noting that the
winners would be rewarded with a N1, 000,000, N750, 000 and N500, 000
respectively for the first, second and third place winners, the funds would be
channelled to educational scholarship.

Prima Foods, Amber Kumar Yadav while speaking on the criteria for the awards
noted that the children must fall under the age bracket of 15 years and below.
“The degree of risk, exceptional courage demonstrated, leadership traits,
spontaneous skills and the determinations to conduct the act also part of the
key areas we are looking out in these young children.”
States proposed to be
visited for the search include Lagos, Ibadan, Akure, Benin, Owerri,
Port-Harcourt, Uyo, Jos, Kaduna, Abuja and Kano.
