SCHOOLS are being invited
to get their students involved in a free, bespoke workshop about the dangers of
social media.
Organised by Bedford law
firm Cartwright King, director and criminal defence solicitor, Andrew Brumhill
will deliver his 'Who Killed Dion' seminar which can be part of schools' PSHCHE
curriculum.
The hour-long session aims
to make students aware of the dangers of social networking using a real-life
case.
During the workshop
children will watch a DVD to gather the necessary information required so that
they can then participate in an open discussion and be asked questions on who
they think 'killed Dion'.
The activity is based on an
unfortunate real-life case where the use of social media and networking was
involved to organise a gathering in a park to attack the victim.
Students will take on
different roles to present arguments for or against the influence of social
media in relation to this crime as they debate the case.
Finally Andrew will run a
quiz where one lucky student can win a £20 iTunes voucher.
A spokeswoman for the legal
firm said: "This bespoke workshop for schools in Bedfordshire highlights
Cartwright King's corporate social responsibility by driving community
engagement and the awareness of social media in crime.
"We are honoured to be
leading this and urge local schools to get involved."
Any teachers wishing to
hold one of these events should contact Hayley Siong via email on:
hayley.siong@cartwrightking.co.uk or phone 01234 263263.
Through a special workshop,
a legal firm will teach students the dangers of social media being used to
organise crime
