UN Women to hold conference on gender equality in Hangzhou China

UN Women will hold an international conference on gender equality and corporate social responsibility in Hangzhou, capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province, from October 22 to 23, according to the city government.
The information office of the Hangzhou municipal government announced the 2015 International Conference on Gender Equality and Corporate Social Responsibility (Hangzhou) Thursday, which will be attended by United Nations officials, corporate leaders and outstanding women from various fields.
Conference attendees will discuss gender equality and corporate social responsibility from an international perspective. Other topics will include how gender equality benefits both genders, the role of the press in promoting gender equality, and women's leadership and economic situation.
Julie Broussard, an official with the UN Women China office, said Hangzhou, home to successful private enterprises and a longstanding tradition of fostering outstanding women, is an apt location for the conference.
In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women. The main role of the organization includes supporting inter-governmental bodies in making policies, global standards and norms, and helping member states implement these standards.
