A conference on
social responsibility will be held at the Omani Women’s Association in Muscat
on April 29 under the auspices of H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Said bin Saif al
Kalbani, Minister of Social Development.
Organised by the Arab
Woman Media, the conference will have four sessions. The first session, themed
‘Social Responsibility: Culture and Concept’, will discuss Oman’s efforts to
strengthen the principle of corporate social responsibility, and its role
in development and a bid to find a new definition for social responsibility.
The second session,
‘Social Responsibility in Oil and Gas Sectors’, will cover the challenges faced
in implementing CSR in the oil and gas sectors, in addition to presenting
experiences of two companies. ‘Social Responsibility in Social Sector’, will be
the title of the third session which will see discussions on social
responsibility in the higher education sector and a greater role for NGOs.
The fourth session
themed ‘Social Responsibility in the Telecom Sector’, will discuss the role of
media in enhancing CSR and pioneering social projects in the telecom sector
towards a new vision for entrepreneurship.
A special exhibition
will be organised on the sidelines of the conference in which companies
undertaking social responsibility projects will take part to highlight their
role in the community. The exhibition will include latest methods and
technologies that companies can use to develop social responsibility.
Specialised seminars
will also be held on social responsibility.
