society should play a key role in serving the various segments of the society,
speakers said at a conference here on Wednesday. Arab Women Media Foundation
(AWMF) had organised the Social Responsibility Conference.
The conference was inaugurated by Minister of Social Development Sheikh Mohammed bin Suayed Al Kalbani, who said the conference reflects the increasing perception and importance given to service and development of the community in the Sultanate. He said the social role of companies, institutions and private sector has gained increasing importance.
"We need to take into account conditions of society, the challenges facing it, recruitment, training, human capacity building and supporting the most needy groups," he said.
Aziza bint Sulayem Al Habsi, CEO of AWMF, said that this conference comes at a time when economic and developmental changes in the world are accelerating with the growing importance of the contribution of the private sector in the government's plans.
"We need to form a development alliance that benefits communities seeking the construction, re-construction and growth. The conference envisions the reality of corporate social responsibility in the Sultanate and highlights new concepts that have taken place on the issue of social responsibility," Aziza bint Sulayem Al Habsi said.
The conference included two sessions. The first session was titled 'Social Responsibility: Culture and the role of Corporate Social Responsibility in the Development'.
The first paper, titled 'The Reality of Social Responsibility in Oman', was presented by Sayyid Hamed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Director General of Directorate of Support Services.
The second session of the conference was titled 'Towards a Greater Role for the Activation of Corporate Social Responsibility in the Community'.
Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Yahmdi, Deputy Head of OCCI Branch in the Governorate of North AlSharqiyah presented the first paper entitled 'North A'Sharqiyah Model'.
Mohammed Al-Mashani, Director General of Corporate Affairs at Salalah Port presented the second paper entitled "Social Responsibility in the Port of Salalah ". The third paper, entitled "Social Responsibility for Small Enterprises," presented by Samir Al Hajri, Director of Human Resources in Konooz Company .

Mohammed Ridha, Head of Disabled Children Association. The fifth paper, casting
light on Dar Al Atta Association's experience in taking advantage of the
support of institutions and private companies to its charitable projects
presented by Rahma Al A'mri, Director of AWMF.
