Nigeria-Glo Powers Lagos NYSC Camp with 100Kva Generator

Globacom on Tuesday lived up to its billing as the country’s most empowering telecommunication company when it donated a 100KVA power generating set to the Lagos State Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) .
Presenting the generator ,Globacom Business Director, Lagos State Division, Mr. Kunle Akanmu stated that the donation was to make corpers’ stay at the Orientation Camp comfortable and less stressful. o
He observed that Globacom places high premium on the Nigerian youth as leaders of tomorrow and would lend support to their welfare as part of its corporate social responsibility.

“We are aware of the need by youths to have regular access to electricity so that they can have unrestrained access to data and voice call services. They need to call their loved ones when they are on the mandatory one year national youth service and also be on the social media regularly. It is this knowledge that has moved us to donate this power generating set so that they can stay abreast of happenings around the globe without fear of power interruptions,” he said.
Akanmu disclosed that Globacom had resolved to take on civic and social projects that will have direct and significant positive impact on the lives of youths in various communities across the country.

“Our major preoccupation through our CSR projects is to evolve a system that will develop the capacity of our youths and empower them to withstand the challenges of global competition. We are fully aware that the robust future of our society can only be secured if we fully develop our younger generation including youths who are serving the nation,” he added.

The State Coordinator, NYSC, Lagos State, Mr. Cyril Akhanemhe expressed his appreciation to Globacom for the hand of fellowship extended to the corps.
He said the good gesture would open a new vista of relations with the state chapter which accommodates about 5,000 corps members on an annual basis. “We have the highest number of corps members on a yearly basis, if all of them are on the Glo network using your data as well, that is brisk business for your company”, Akhanemhe enthused.
He appealed to other corporate organizations in the country to take a cue from Globacom by partnering with the NYSC to further empower the youth. “
