Harvard Business School-How Companies Can Integrate Corporate Social Responsibility

Harvard Business School (HBS) will host a new executive education program this year, Corporate Social Responsibility - India, beginning October 26th, 2015 at the HBS style classroom, Taj Land’s End, Mumbai. In this program participants will discover new ways to think about CSR, along with best practices for CSR strategy development and tactics for truly effective implementation.

In addition to the full-time faculty leading the program, featured guests will bring unique perspectives on the challenges of CSR in India. These guest speakers will include executives from Dasra, an organization focused on catalyzing and fortifying multi-stakeholder ecosystems to accelerate social change in India.

“To formulate a sound strategy for corporate social responsibility (CSR)—one that delivers shared business and social value while meeting government mandates—India's companies must wade through an overwhelming array of choices. Making their task more difficult are the country's vast social challenges combined with the potential significance of each firm's social, economic, and environmental impact. In this workshop-style program focused on CSR challenges and opportunity in India, participants will build their CSR knowledge and lay the foundation for executing a high-impact CSR strategy that brings sustainable benefits to the business, the community, and the broader society.” Said, Prof V Kasturi Rangan, Malcolm P. McNair Professor of Marketing, Harvard Business School.

Through two workshop-based classroom sessions and a period of individual work, participants will develop new ways of approaching CSR and create a corporate social responsibility strategy that enables their organization to meet its CSR requirements—along with broader goals for creating social value.

The program is designed for executives and/or board members of medium-to-large companies who are responsible for designing and executing their firm's strategy for corporate social responsibility and reporting on CSR activities. It is also appropriate for executives in established non-profit firms (NGOs) operating in India who want a deeper understanding of how businesses are formulating their CSR strategies and engaging with them to accomplish their goals.

As with all HBS Executive Education programs, the India portfolio is taught by distinguished HBS faculty using the renowned HBS case-study method. Faculty lectures, interactive exercises, and diagnostic assessment tools create a dynamic learning environment. The program aims to build long-lasting relationships via the professional network that is created through close interaction with an elite group of Indian and global peers.
