In an effort to boost its Corporate Social
Responsibility in Nigeria, PricewaterhouseCoopers, a global frontline player in
tax and audit services, has concluded plans to hold the second edition of its
annual media capacity development training seminar.
The event, holding for the second consecutive
year, is aimed at developing and further deepening the ability of the average
business and economy reporter to have an indepth understanding of the
technicalities in reporting the various sectors of the economy.
The event, tagged PwC Capacity Enhancement
Workshop for Journalists 2015, is scheduled to hold in Lagos on October 9,
2015 and it is scheduled to train a minimum of 30 different journalists
from 30 media houses.
Speaking on the level of preparedness for the
event, Delia Asuzu, spokesperson and image maker of PwC, stated that this
year’s edition is targeted at Information and Communication Technology editors
and correspondents as well as their colleagues on the Energy beat.
Asuzu said: “We believe that the training
programme is a give back to the Nigerian society. This is so because if you
empower a journalist, you have empowered the multitude of people that reads him
or her and the nation also benefits from the accurate and precise dissemination
of information.”
According to her, this year’s edition of the
programme is not limited to just the print media alone, but also brings
together online news publishers and broadcast journalists from both the radio
and television stations.
Also speaking, Yemie Adeoye, the CEO of
D’Alphaxristi Limited, consultants to the event, stated that this year’s
edition is being supported by notable and credible organizations in both the
oil and telecoms sector.
Adeoye said: “These organizations share the
same beliefs with PwC and understands that CSR is not just an obligation but an
integral and highly pertinent operational module for every responsible
organization.”
