IBQ sponsors Zumbathon to strengthen breast cancer awareness

The International Bank of Qatar (ibq) has extended its support to the Zumba ‘Party in Pink™’initiative organised by The Zumba Fitness Doha Qatar Team with the support of Digitek and hosted by Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotellast week.

As part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this annual global campaign is part of ibq’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. All proceeds from the event were contributed to the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) to support its diverse awareness activities.

Muhannad Kamal, Deputy CEO at ibq said: “We are committed to supporting this noble initiative to promote awareness about breast cancer and encourage early screening. This sponsorship underlines our corporate social responsibility to support health, public safety, educational, cultural and sports initiatives that make a positive difference to the community and contribute to the society’s progress. This initiative is in line with our vision to partner in building a healthy community”.

Nick Heath, Complex General Manager at Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel said: “The worldwide fight against cancer has been gaining constant momentum and we are delighted to be able to support this worthy cause through our ‘Party in Pink™’ initiative. It is our responsibility to support programs that aim to increase attention and support early detection and treatment of the disease in Qatar.

In addition to being a fun mode of exercise, Zumba helps people stay fit by burning extra calories and fat quickly.”

Zumba is an aerobic fitness programme set to Latin music andinvolves aerobic elements as squats, lunges and dance as hip-hop, samba, salsa, merengue, cumbia and mambo.
