Mannai
Corporation and its employees have responded with a donation of QR170,000 to an
emergency appeal by Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) to save victims of the Nepal
earthquake.
The
contribution was received by Saad bin Shaheen Al Kaabi, Director, Resources
Mobilisation Department, QRC, during a meeting at the Mannai Corporate
headquarters on Salwa Road.
Mohamed Mahmoud, General Manager, Human Resources, Mannai Corporation, said, “We are saddened by the devastation brought by the earthquake in Nepal. The massive impact of the calamity manifests itself not only on properties but most importantly on human lives. The commitment to communities is an essential part of our corporate values. In response to the needs created by the disaster, Mannai employees and management raised the funds for the Nepalese people.”
Al Kaabi said, “I would like to express my thanks to officials and staff of Mannai Corporation for the donation which reflects their sense of humanitarianism and belief in the cause of charitable and social organisations in Qatar.
“We hope the noble strategy will continue from the company and that we enhance our cooperation through a proposed partnership agreement to embody the company’s slogan ‘Your Trusted Partner’,” he said.
The earthquake caused massive destruction of buildings and blockades of main roads. Millions were badly affected, including over two million in Kathmandu. The donation will contribute to relief efforts of QRC staff in Nepal who are conducting an urgent intervention programme involving sheltering, food and non-food assistance, water and sanitation services, healthcare and other services in the most-affected regions. Contribution to humanitarian relief operations has always been part of Mannai’s continuous initiative to support local and international communities, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme and social mission.
